Scottie Scheffler has a three shot lead heading into Sunday's final round of the US PGA Championship after complaining about mud balls and the construction of the Quail Hollow course.
Today's print edition of the Sunday Times features a thought provoking article advocating a rethink of the least interesting of the four major championships in the calendar. This article doesn't appear online so I can't link to it here.
I'm all for the author's suggestion of retaining The Players Chamopionship as it is, and moving the US PGA around the globe to attract new golf fans. Up until 1958 this is how the US PGA was played. Imagine courses in mainland Europe, Australia and Asia re-invigorating this tired format that hasn't noticeably distinguished itself since moving from its previous slot in late August.
There's also an article about England's cricketers obsession with golf in today's Sunday Times. Please see link here - behind a paywall unfortunately. With that, I'm off to play cricket myself this afternoon.
