What's in our bag

One of the benefits of this job is going on press launches, trade days and trying new equipment before it hits the market. We also try to play with one of every club we sell, each new ball that our suppliers introduce and use gloves in all different sizes and weather conditions.

Hopefully, that should help us give a reliable opinion when asked for advice. Some clubs sell out really quickly and unfortuntaely can't get back in stock while they're still current.

One such set would be my personal irons. I bought TaylorMade RAC OS irons in 2001/2 when studying at university and had enough time on my hands to play at Celtic Manor's short course about twice a week. Unfortunately, life gets in the way of doing that now.

Among the clubs that I've kept back and not sold on as box-opened, used or offered to friends at a discount are Callaway's Mavrik driver and I recently swapped out my first putter from the mid-1990s for a TaylorMade TP Collection Ardmore - I should definitely have done this a lot earlier!

Filling out the clubs are a TaylorMade 4 GAPR hybrid and a Cobra F-MAX Superlite 5 fairway wood. That latter club sold out in record time in the summer of 2020 when golf clubs were the first to reopen following COVID restrictions.

My current gloves are the Zero Friction black+yellow and balls are Wilson Ultra 1, while charting my way round a course using a Garmin Fenix 6 watch.
